WEDNESDAY in the European Union

At weekly its meeting on Wednesday, the Commission will agree on a so-called Recommendation on how France should cut its budget deficit.

France has repeatedly breached the terms of the rules governing the euro - the Growth and Stability Pact - infuriating the smaller countries who try and stick to the letter of the Pact.
