EU driving licence hammered out

The European Parliament gave its backing for an EU driving licence to be introduced within 20 years, in a vote on Wednesday (23 February).

The single European licence should replace the 110 currently existing driving licences across the EU member states.

MEPs decided that paper driving licences - still used in some countries – are to be removed completely and replaced by the "credit card model" within 10 years.
