English studied by 95% of EU students

As many as 95% of pupils at secondary level are studying English as a foreign language, according to figures from 2009 published from the Eurostat, the EU’s statistical office. The second most commonly studied foreign language at secondary level is German (27%), followed by French (26%) and Spanish (19%).
