Spain accused of purging journalists

A number of journalists critical of Spain's austerity plans have been fired from the country's national RTVE radio and TVE channel, reports the Guardian. TVE received €500 million in state subsidies in 2010 and its staff are appointed by the parliament; currently dominated by Mariano Rajoy's rightwing Partido Popular party.
