Germany’s public finances in surplus

Primarily due to record low unemployment, Germany’s public finances are in surplus for the first time since 2008, the federal statistics office Destatis announced on Thursday. From January to June this year, Germany's public accounts showed a surplus of €8.3 bn, equivalent to 0.6 percent of gross domestic product.
