German police trained Lukashenko's militia

German police trained members of Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko's security forces on a programme running from 2007 to 2010, German daily Tagesspiegel reports. The aim was to bring the country to EU standards using the example of the German police. The operation ended when EU agreed sanctions against the regime.
