German trade union warns over new ECB banking powers

The European Parliament should be charged with new banking supervision responsibilities, chairman of the Confederation of German Trade Unions Michael Sommer has said. In an interview with Handelsblatt, he questions the independence and democratic legitimacy of the ECB if it receives the powers EU leaders recently promised to give it.
