Commission launches new investigation on Aer Lingus takeover bid

The European Commission has opened a fresh investigation into the latest attempted takeover of Irish airline Aer Lingus by its low-budget rival Ryanair. In a statement, the EU executive said that it had "potential competition concerns" because on most flights from Ireland the two were "each other's closest competitors".
