Monti signals interest in staying on as Italy's PM

Italian Prime Minister Mario Monti, an economist without political affiliation, said Thursday in New York he would not run in next year's general elections, but added he would "consider" being premier again if asked and "be there if the country needs me." Monti has also served as EU commissioner.
