German official: Francois Hollande must drop campaign promises

BERLIN - Slashed EU growth predictions and a report by industrialist Louis Gallois recommending a "shock therapy" to make France competitive again are all indications that President Francois Hollande "must drop his campaign promises" of less austerity and more economic stimulus, German state secretary Ernst Burgbacher told MPs in the Bundestag Wednesday.
