Independent Scotland welcome, says EFTA

An independent Scotland would be welcomed into the European Free Trade Area (EFTA) if it could not secure EU membership. EFTA countries adopt most EU single market legislation without voting rights or contributions to the EU budget. EFTA spokesman, Tom Gronningsater, said that EFTA membership offered “several advantages” to Scotland.
