EU approves restructuring plans of Spanish banks

Brussels Wednesday approved restructuring plans for four major Spanish banks allowing them to receive aid from the European Stability Mechanism. Balance sheets will be reduced by a minimum 60% by 2017 compared to 2010 as the banks stop lending to real estate development and limit their presence in wholesale business.
