German Liberals back leader after resignation offer

BERLIN - German Liberal leader Philipp Roesler on Monday offered his resignation as party chief, despite a record score in regional elections in Lower Saxony. His party decided to keep him as leader, but parliamentary group chairman Rainer Bruederle will become their chancellor candidate for Germany's federal elections in September.
