EU court rules against Ryanair over ash cloud compensation

Ryanair airline should have fully compensated a passenger whose flight was cancelled because of the volcanic ash cloud in 2010, the European Court of Justice ruled Thursday. The plaintiff was stranded for a week, with Ryanair claiming the volcano eruption was so exceptional that normal compensation rules should not apply.
