EU appoints Lithuanian diplomat as ambassador to Russia

The EU has appointed Lithuanian diplomat Vygaudas Usackas as its new ambassador to Russia. Usackas has since 2010 worked as the EU's envoy to Afghanistan. He is also a former foreign minister of Lithuania, the EU country with arguably the worst relations with Russia of all 27 member states.
