Centre-left claims early poll lead in Italian elections

Pierluigi Bersani's Democratic party is set for victory in Italy's parliamentary elections. According to early exit polls, the centre-left Democratic party will claim 34.5% followed by three-time Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi on 29%. Meanwhile, polls have comedian Beppe Grillo claiming a surprise 20%, with Mario Monti's centre party on 9.5%.
