MEPs want to monitor member states' economy

Parliament should be fully involved in the monitoring of member states' economic performance, MEPs said Thursday. MEPs want more powers over the 'scoreboard' of indicators used by the European Commission to assess whether imbalances exist in national economies. Earlier this month, the Commission censured 13 countries for having macro-economic imbalances.
