EU bans fish imports from Faroe Islands

The European Commission Tuesday banned imports of herring and mackerel from the Faroe Islands, escalating a conflict about alleged over-fishing. Brussels says it is trying "to protect stocks," while Faroese PM Kaj Leo Holm Johannesen says it is "ignoring international obligations" by imposing sanctions before all negotiation options are exhausted.
