Dutch shale gas needs environmental all-clear

A report by civil engineering consultancy Witteveen+Bos giving approval for shale gas extraction in the Netherlands will be assessed by environmental experts before any final decision is taken, government minister Henk Kamp said Monday. Many Dutch organisations, including civil society groups and industry, fear that shale extraction would increase pollution.

EU Modernisation Fund: an open door for fossil gas in Romania

Among the largest sources of financing for energy transition of central and eastern European countries, the €60bn Modernisation Fund remains far from the public eye. And perhaps that's one reason it is often used for financing fossil gas projects.
