Spanish public debt hits new record

Public debt in Spain hit a historic high of €942.8bn in June, reports the BBC. Spain's central bank notes the figure is equal to 92.2% of economic output and is 15% higher compared to the same period last year. Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy wants to reduce public spending by €150bn.

EU Modernisation Fund: an open door for fossil gas in Romania

Among the largest sources of financing for energy transition of central and eastern European countries, the €60bn Modernisation Fund remains far from the public eye. And perhaps that's one reason it is often used for financing fossil gas projects.
