EU slaps big banks with record fine

The European Commission has fined eight big banks a total of €1.7bn for forming illegal cartels to rig interest rates. Germany's Deutsche Bank got the highest fine (€725mn). France's Societe Generale and Britain's RBS, RP Martin and Barclays were also fined, along with non-EU UBS, JP Morgan and Citibank.
