Russian president Vladimir Putin Monday dissolved state news agency Ria Novosti, reports Reuters. It is to be replaced by an agency that promotes Russia's image abroad. Ria Novosti itself commented that the move appeared "to point towards a tightening of state control in the already heavily regulated media sector."
