Romania rejects Canadian gold mine project

Romania's lower house of Parliament Tuesday rejected an amendment to a mining law that would have allowed the Canadian company Gabriel Resources to build Europe's largest open cast gold mine in Rosia Montana in northwest Romania, AP reports. Demonstrators have criticized the use of cyanide in the extraction process.
