Brussels approves state aid for 5 Slovenia banks

The European Commission Wednesday approved state aid for five Slovenia banks. Two banks were restructured, one wound down and another given rescue aid. Competition commissioner Joaquin Almunia said the decisions would "strengthen confidence in Slovenian banks" amid concerns about the financial health of the euro country's lenders.
