Merkel's deputy wants to have a say in EU policy

Social-Democrat leader and energy minister Sigmar Gabriel, who also acts as deputy chancellor in Angela Merkel's cabinet wants to play a prominent role in Germany's EU policy, Spiegel reports. Unlike his predecessor, Gabriel joined finance minister Wolfgang Schaeuble at a Franco-German meeting in Paris where they discussed eurozone banking union.
