Italian government in danger of collapse

Italy's coalition government came close to collapse Wednesday, with Premier Enrico Letta presenting as an ultimatum a 57-page plan to tackle Italy's economic problems. Speculation has been rising that Letta might be replaced by Democratic Party (PD) chief Matteo Renzi, the 39-year-old mayor of Florence, in an election-free process.
