MEPs in the civil liberties committee on Thursday backed binding rules on search and rescue operations for migrants out at sea. The rules clarify disembarkation and identification procedures of migrants. "We have deleted the possibility of ‘pushback’ on the high seas and we have strengthened the ‘non-refoulement’ principles," MEPs said.
