MEPs vote to keep railway monopolies

EU transport commissioner Siim Kallas described as "very disappointing" a European Parliament's vote Wednesday to reject the liberalisation of passenger trail travel in the single market, AFP reports. The key amendments, which weakened proposals to separate infrastructure management from passenger services, passed by 439 to 207 votes.
