EU plan to curb 'conflict minerals' ineffective, say activists

The European Commission's voluntary self-certification scheme for importers of so-called "conflict minerals" like tin, tantalum, tungsten and gold, is unlikely to prevent the flow from countries ravaged by war, say NGOs. Amnesty International said the plan was "substantially weaker" than existing international standards, reports AFP.
