Venice vote on independence comes to a close

Online voting in a non-binding and unofficial independence referendum on whether Venice and its surrounding region should secede from the rest of Italy closes Friday. Around 65 percent are set to vote for independence, according to recent opinion polls. So far, 750,000 people have voted, reports the Telegraph.
