EU set to remove 'best before' food labels

The European Commission is set to propose a bill next month that would remove 'best before' labels on coffee, rice, dry pasta, hard cheeses, jams and pickles, reports the independent.ie. Scrapping the labels could reportedly help reduce an estimated 100 million tons of food wasted each year throughout Europe.
