Former EU leaders want to wake up European debate

A manifesto called “A wake-up call to Europe” was on Monday sent to the heads of EU countries by a dozen former top EU officials in a bid to give new momentum to the debate on the future of Europe and rejuvenate the ambition of present EU leaders. The paper claims that a federation of nation states consistent with the initial objectives of the European Union would reach a large consensus.
