Euro-zone annual inflation down to 2.4 per cent

Figures released by the European Union statistical service, Eurostat, shows that eurozone annual inflation went down from 2.5 per cent in March to 2.4 per cent in April. The estimated figure for April, which was published on 30 April 2002, was 2.2 per cent. The difference is due to rounding effects and a higher than expected increase of the sub-indices for clothing and tobacco - mainly in Spain.
