Before Christmas, when the European Parliament asked Russia to carry out a full investigation on reports of fraud and intimidation in its parliamentary vote on 4 December, President Dmitry Medvedev told the European Parliament to keep its nose out of Russia's business.
The chair of the European Parliament's EU-Russia delegation, German Socialist MEP Knut Fleckenstein did not sign up because he believes Medvedev has a point.
As protests in Russia continue to grow, Fleckenstein explains why he thinks that "Medvedev is not obliged to do what the EU advises."
