Spanish MEP Juan Lopez Aguilar just returned from a visit to Zaatari, a refugee camp in Jordan, about 12 kilometres from the Syrian border, hosting almost 100,000 Syrian refugees.

"It is about the end of the regime, in a fight for life or death," he says.

Earlier this week, the EU renewed its sanctions on Syria and extended an arms embargo. On the same day, UN investigators said Syrian leaders should be brought before the international criminal court (ICC) to face justice for murder and torture.
