Tadic could call early election if EU drags its feet

President Boris Tadic could pull forward the date of Serbia's next general election if the EU does not move forward on its membership bid this year, WAZ.EUobserver has learned.

The political logic of the move is that Mr Tadic wants to run elections shortly after tangible progress on the EU bid in order to help his chances of victory.

If the EU forwards Serbia's application to the European Commission this year, Serbia is likely to get EU candidate status in December 2011 or March 2...
