Commission vows to crush cartels

On Wednesday (28 June), the European Commission launched a new set of competition guidelines, which will allow it to penalise companies with up to 30 percent of the company's annual sales for breaching competition rules.

"These revised guidelines will better reflect the overall economic significance of the infringement, as well as the share of each company involved," said competition commissioner Neelie Kroes.
