Former Greek FM to be EU human rights envoy

Former Greek foreign minister Stavros Lambrinidis was Wednesday formally appointed as the EU's special representative for human rights. "This is (...) a key portfolio for the European Union," said EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton. Lambrinidis was foreign minister from 2004-2009. He starts work 1 September until 30 June 2014.
