EU blames Hamas for starting conflict

EU foreign relations chief Ashton has said Hamas rocket fire "began this current crisis" in reference to the outbreak of fighting in Gaza and Israel. She urged Israel to use "proportionate" force and said she hopes a visit by Egypt's PM to Gaza on Friday will "calm" the situation.
