UN approves EU troops in Central Africa Republic

The UN security council Tuesday unanimously authorised deployment of an EU force to the Central African Republic, a country marred by violence that could escalate into genocide. The EU mission is likely to comprise 500 troops with a mandate of "six months from the declaration of its full operational capacity."
