Six EU countries pledge manpower for CAR mission

Six EU countries pledged "substantial" numbers of troops or police at a "force generation" meeting Thursday for the EU mission to the Central African Republic, Reuters reports, citing "sources." Canada, Georgia, Norway, Serbia, Turkey and the US also took part in the meeting, with some offering equipment or logistical support.

Maltese PM hails pope, calls for multispeed EU

Malta's prime minister Joseph Muscat said that Pope Francis has "the skills and vision" to inspire the EU and that some EU countries should integrate more to be able to act.
