Floods may cost EU billions in future

Floods may cost the EU €23.5bn annually by 2050, double the 2013 amount, according to a study published in the journal Nature Climate Change on Sunday. The expected increase is explained by a higher risk to property in flood zones, and changes in rainfall patterns driven by global warming.
