Pregnant workers gain protection under EU ruling

A woman who gives up work because of pregnancy or the aftermath of childbirth can retain the status of ‘worker’, the EU Court of Justice ruled on Thursday. The case was brought by Frenchwoman, Jessy Saint Prix, who was refused benefits when she stopped work in Britain during her pregnancy.
