Commision proposes €500m package for farmers

The European Commission has proposed a €500 million package to help farmers facing market difficulties. The plan, which is to be discussed by agriculture ministers on Monday, includes a €150 million scheme to encourage a reduction in milk production in order to sustain prices. It also includes €350 million to be distributed between member states to help farmers facing cash-flow problems.
