UK nuclear postponement angers France and China
The sudden decision by Theresa May's new British government to postpone building a new nuclear reactor at Hinkley Point has angered and surprised investors, according to media reports. French company EDF had approved financing for most of the €21bn project. China, expected to fund one third of the project, said it hoped for a speedy resolution. The new UK government may try to alter China’s role for security reasons.
