Renzi: Personalising constitutional referendum a 'mistake'

Italian prime minister Matteo Renzi back-peddled on Tuesday on a promise to leave office if an upcoming referendum on a constitutional reform, due in the autumn failed. "This referendum is not my referendum, because this reform has a father whose name is (former president of Italy) Giorgio Napolitano," Renzi told party supporters at an event in Modena, northern Italy. “I made a mistake personalising it too much.”
