Spain's Rajoy gets mandate for coalition talks
Spain's conservative People's Party (PP) has granted its leader, Mariano Rajoy, a mandate to hold coalition talks with the rival and centrist Ciudadanos party. Ciadadanos earlier vowed to back Rajoy for a second term as prime minister if the PP agreed to a six-point package of political reforms. The alliance would still be short of a majority in the parliament. The Socialists and left-wing Podemos refuse to back Rajoy.
