EU condemns Israeli settlement surge, again

The EU has issued another statement of "serious concern" over Israel's decades-old settlement expansion programme in occupied Palestinian territories after Israel approved 463 housing units in the West Bank. The US also condemned the move, with both America and Europe citing a recent UN report saying settlements should be frozen because they undermine peace. Israeli media say more new housing is to come in Hebron, a hotspot for violent clashes.
