Germany shuts Turkish embassy after new media row
By EUobserver
Germany has temporarily closed its embassy in Turkey over fears of violent demonstrations after a cover by German magazine Der Spiegel angered the authorities. The cover depicts president Recep Tayyip Erdogan as "the dictator" and Istanbul's Blue Mosque with minarets transformed in rockets. The headline says "a country loses freedom". The Turkish foreign ministry said the article created "a negative image not only about Turkey but also Islam".
