EU Parliament endorses Julian King as new EU commissioner

The European Parliament, by 394 votes to 161, endorsed on Thursday Julian King as the new British EU commissioner. King, who answered MEPs questions on Monday, will hold a newly created portfolio for a EU security union. He will replace the former financial services and capital union commissioner, Jonathan Hill, who resigned after the Brexit vote in June.
